MARDY FC

Connecting Community Through the Love of Football

MARDY FC
Mardy Football Club was founded in 1897 and, since those early days, has grown in stature and reputation.
The club’s history is chequered, with games sometimes played above the church towards the old school. The oldest photograph dates to 1902. The club has always been a typical village club, with youngsters eager to play and help build the team.
Malcolm Skinner, affectionately known as "Macky," has been synonymous with the club for over 60 years, playing, managing, coaching, and nurturing talent. He has been a Life Member since 1981.
The club enjoyed success in the 1966/67 season, reaching its first Cup Final (losing to Usk by 5-3). The following year, the team reached the Benevolent Cup semi-final, followed by a 1972 win over Fairfield (14-2) to earn promotion to the senior league.
Despite setbacks in later years, the 1970s saw the rise of talented players like Kyle Holmes and John Williams.
In 1981, the Under-12s won the George Deacon Cup, beating Raglan 4-0.
